In a not so surprising move, the Tyler Morning Telegraph has endorsed the John McCain. However, it’s not exactly a “glowing” endorsement.
No endorsement of John McCain can be completely unqualified. His relationship with the conservative wing of the Republican Party has often been strained, and he has supported and even authored some legislation conservatives have objected to, such as the failed immigration reform bill of 2007.
And McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate has turned out to be a massive miscalculation. That choice, and several other strategic errors on the part of the McCain campaign, smack of desperation.
Yet John McCain adheres more closely to the principles of limited government that we advocate.

Houston Chronicle Endorses Barack Obama:
Obama appears to possess the tools to confront our myriad and daunting problems. He’s thoughtful and analytical. He has met his opponents’ attacks with calm and reasoned responses. Viewers of the debates saw a poised, well-prepared plausible president with well-articulated positions on the bread-and-butter issues that poll after poll indicate are the true concerns of voters. While Arizona Sen. John McCain and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have struck an increasingly personal and negative tone in their speeches, Obama has continued to talk about issues of substance.
The Dallas Morning News Endorses John McCain:
In better times, America could afford to consider entrusting the White House to an appealing newcomer like Mr. Obama and giving control of the presidency and Congress to the same party.
But in this time of great anxiety, the American people need a leader of experience guiding the ship of state. Mr. McCain offers the continuity, stability and sense of authority people want, as well as a decisive break from the Bush years.
Apparently, the Dallas Morning News editorial board hasn’t watched McCain’s reactions to the economic crisis.
